The Controller is the lead financial position for Weigh Wrap US business, part of the Global Retail platform within the Food Equipment Group. Reporting to the Business Unit Manager (BUM) of the Weigh Wrap Business. This position provides leadership to all aspects of the business.

Working with the BUM and the leadership team, the position supports and directs the development of the unit’s business strategy and ensures effective execution. The Controller provides functional leadership for all U.S. Finance employees, and all aspects of financial planning and analysis, asset management and resource allocation including innovation, capital expenditures and restructuring, and effective control infrastructure.


The Controller will be responsible for over-seeing all business unit-level financial planning, and business analysis activities as well as protecting ITW’s assets and manage risk. This role will be responsible for partnering with the functional teams to develop/execute business strategy and detailed business plans as well as the communication of those business plans to senior management.

  • Continuously build an intimate knowledge of the business, its customers, profit drivers, operational capabilities including organic growth drivers, innovation, supply chain and how competitive and market dynamics drive strategy and operating results.
  • Provide financial leadership toward high-level Long-Range Plan, Annual Plan, quarterly reviews, monthly outlooks, and provide all related financial schedules.
  • Be a strong strategic contributor to the business by partnering with other management team members to drive new ideas and provide fresh insight within the business.
  • Ensure accuracy of the financial data and be able to clearly and accurately explain variances. Provide timely internal financial statements to senior leadership team.
  • Demonstrate solid understanding and ensures compliance with accounting/company policies and procedures.
  • Embrace, understand and champion the ITW Toolbox applications to significantly improve operating performance of businesses.
  • Establish and guide managers to understand their choices and how they relate to ITW values, safety, business ethics and the law, and financial controls.
  • Supervise the business Accounting Manager and Accounts Payable functions.
  • Provide energizing functional leadership with a focus on attracting, retaining and developing top talent. Build and lead a value-add focused finance team that is integrally involved with the day-to-day plans and operations of the business. Selects and develops diverse, world class talent.
  • Actively participate in establishing/maintaining inventory controls. Ensure that key processes have safeguards established to maintain transactional and reporting accuracy.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of applicable financial management experience in progressively responsible assignments and financial management experience leading other accounting professionals.
  • Bachelor’s degree accounting or finance
  • Proven results in managing and developing talent.
  • Strong track record of driving financial improvements.
  • A strategic thinker who simplifies strategy into business objectives/actions and drives them with clear metrics and accountability.
  • Has capacity to sift through complex information and utilizes 80/20 to focus the organization on the critical few priorities. Communicates messages clearly and concisely.
  • Can coach and communicate in simple impactful terms.
  • Well-rounded, individual with ability to combine analytical reasoning, creativity and judgment. A results-oriented, prudent risk-taker that ensures economic value is paramount in decision making.
  • Quick learner, comfortable with steep learning curves and able to handle simultaneous complex matters. Deals effectively with both strategic and tactical operational issues. Loves the best ideas, not his/her own ideas.
  • Challenges the status quo and drives positive change using a data driven and fact based approach to decision making.
  • CPA certificate preferred.
  • Public Accounting experience preferred.
