Provide fiscal and general business office site management by directing and monitoring the academy’s accounting function, budgeting process, and provide required fiscal reporting/support to Nexus’ corporate office, and supervise the IT and Food Services functions as assigned.


  • Ensure the fiscal integrity of the academy by directing all financial, accounting and business office functions.
    • Serve as primary liaison to the corporate office regarding all accounting and financial functions.
    • Provide consultation and guidance regarding the academy’s financial issues and/or inquiries to site staff.
    • Manage the accounting/financial function of the academy and ensure appropriate reporting to academy staff, as well as the corporate office.
    • Collaborate with the corporate office and the academy’s executive director in the financial evaluation of growth opportunities and program expansions.
    • Provide consultation and guidance regarding academy financial issues.
    • Collaborate with the executive director and the corporate office in the review process of all internal and external contracts and/or agreements.
  • Coordinate the academy’s budget development, implementation and maintenance in cooperation with the corporate office.
    • Collaborate with the corporate office, executive director and department managers to develop the annual working budget for the academy.
    • Supervise general purchasing processes for the academy and monitor/approve expenditures for all departments, within established guidelines.
    • Lead the budget development process for new ventures.
    • Lead the education process of non-financial staff in understanding departmental finances and the budgeting process.
  • When assigned, supervise the site’s Information Technology and Food Services functions.
    • Review recommendations of technical staff and acquire executive director approval, when appropriate, on equipment, software or usage needs.
    • Ensure effective and appropriate usage of computer equipment and technical resources, and site compliance with all related company policies and legal requirements.
    • Serve as the primary liaison to the corporate office regarding all IT related issues.
    • Ensure that the site’s IT staff provide computer/software troubleshooting, user support and training, as needed.
    • Ensure that the food services department meets standards set for nutritional value, efficiency, safety, and compliance with all regulatory entities.
    • Ensure the accuracy of the purchasing of food service items.
  • Participate in the selection, training, ongoing development and performance evaluation of assigned staff.
    • Actively participate in the interview and selection process and conduct thorough reference checks to satisfy Nexus requirements.
    • Participate in the process to orient, mentor, train and develop staff and ensure the process is consistently and effectively administered.
    • Provide performance management for staff on an ongoing basis and conduct formal performance evaluations that are timely and constructive, and that include a development component. Consult with the Human Resources Department on disciplinary issues.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with licensing, governmental and other regulatory entities.
    • Ensure timely and accurate statistical reporting as required by state, federal or local agencies.
    • Ensure compliance with funding source rules and regulations relative to accounting and financial functions.
    • Provide consultation and guidance to the academy on compliance issues.
  • Attend and participate in clinical programs, department meetings and training sessions as required by Nexus; understand and support the Nexus philosophy and treatment modalities.
  • Ensure confidentiality and integrity of all Nexus/academy proprietary information; ensure confidentiality regarding residents’ issues, background and treatment; and comply with Nexus policies involving privacy and confidentiality rules for residents and their families.
  • Perform other responsibilities, tasks and projects as needed.


Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes
  • Exhibit proven skills in Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) and the non-profit business environment; must possess sound mathematical, technical and analysis skills.

Education, Credentials and Experience
  • BA/BS in business-related field, minimum of 3 years accounting management experience in a similar size organization, plus a minimum of 1 year supervisory experience required. In lieu of BA/BS, may accept 2 year degree in business-related field and 5 years related experience with 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated competency in accounting/finance processes and software packages; proficiency with MS software with advanced skill level for spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Valid driver’s license. Must meet state regulating agency and Corporate driving requirements.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time and utilize general office equipment continually (computer, phone, calculator, etc).
  • Visual acuity necessary to spend lengthy periods of time at the computer.
  • Bending, twisting and reaching conducive to an office environment.
  • Very infrequent lifting of no more than 30 pounds
