Job Title: Facilities/Operations Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

Work Schedule:

Monday – Thursday 9am – 5pm, Fridays 9am – 3pm,

Nights and Weekends as needed

Classification: Full Time, Regular Employee

Job Overview:
Responsible for managing the day to day planning and maintenance of all buildings on the KKBE campus, working closely with the Executive Director, the Chair of Buildings and Grounds and the Security and Safety committee. The position plans, budgets, monitors and schedules facility repairs and modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs. The position also facilitates in house event logistics and rentals.

This role is responsible for supervising facility staff, security and maintenance crews and coordinating with vendors.

Primary Functions:
1. Supervising Facility Managers including but not limited to: communication, scheduling and training
2. Oversee all building repairs and maintenance
3. Coordinate logistics for congregational and rental events
4. Other tasks as assigned

1. Plan and oversee all repairs and regular maintenance throughout campus
2. Work with vendors to coordinate regular system tests and inspections
3. Order cleaning and maintenance supplies as needed
4. Prioritize and make recommendations for major building work and repairs

Campus Security & Safety:
1. Responsible for safety and security policies including coordination of building fire drills, exit plan, security coverage, coordination with CCPD, CPR/first aid training, attend security related meetings as needed internally and within Charleston community
2. Create monthly security schedule
3. Work with Executive Director and Security & Safety Committee in coordinating improvements and enforcing overall security plans for the synagogue campus
4. Oversee computer security camera system and report potential issues to Executive Director and onsite security officer
5. Coordinate the moving and/or securing of items throughout campus in preparation for hurricanes

Congregational & Lifecycle Events:
1. Works closely with senior staff and congregants in coordinating logistics for weddings, B’nei Mitzvah, congregational and other lifecycle events
2. Coordinates the linen rental and furniture set up ensuring adequate availability for each week’s event needs
3. Manage budget and ordering of building supplies, anticipating needs based on planned events, regularly scheduled programs and activities
4. Supervise and assist facility staff during some congregational and life cycle events, including assisting with set up, break down and clean up
5. Work with Executive Director to coordinate High Holy Day logistics at KKBE and off site

1. Previous event planning, building management or facilities experience required
2. College degree required
3. General office experience required
4. Strong organization and communication skills
5. Computer proficiency with MS Word, Publisher, Excel and other office software programs.
6. Ability to work independently and with a team
