Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification: $40,000/year, Full-time, Benefited, Non-Exempt

The responsibility of the position is to coordinate the day to day activities between the Housing and Facilities Departments for the maintenance repairs and inspections of all housing buildings. This position requires multi-tasking skills, must be willing to adapt to change and work with a diverse staff and group of students. Ability to work under tight deadlines.


Duties and Responsibilities

Apartment and Residence Hall Vacate Process (30%)
  • Pre-vacate inspections.
  • Vacate inspections and assessment of check-out related charges for apartments and residence halls.
  • Coordination of Facility Trades to turn over apartments and residence hall rooms. (i.e. Carpet, Paint, Maintenance, and Custodial)
  • Pre-check-in review to verify the apartment or residence room ready for new resident.
  • Coordinate and validate vacate dates with Housing and Facilities Staff.

Daily Maintenance (50%)
  • Daily observations of all housing facilities. Assess and provide preventive maintenance information as needed.
  • Oversight/review of work orders for all housing. Review that work orders are appropriate and work with facilities to make sure that the work is being done correctly. Prioritize work orders as needed.
  • Communicate with different trades and services to ensure work is being completed in a timely manner and at a professional standard. (i.e., pest control, systems, plumbers, carpenters, etc.)
  • Perform minor maintenance work when needed.

Safety and Code Compliance (10%)
  • Assist with coordination of annual safety inspections in the residence halls and apartments.
  • Oversight to ensure that all housing buildings are meeting building and safety codes.
  • Investigate and document any safety concerns.
  • Report any ADA issues in the housing area.

Other Duties (10%)
  • Interact and discuss issues with students.
  • Address resident issues and concerns both orally and in writing.
  • Assist Project Planning Assistant.
  • On-site presence for housing department in regards to facilities management.
  • Identify and notify appropriate staff of concerns in their area.
  • Communicate and offer workable solutions for building maintenance issues.
  • Prepare accurate project estimates ensuring that costs are within budget.
  • Keep Director of Finance and Facilities up to date on building issues and/or projects.



Required Competencies:
  • Require excellent Communication skills –verbal and writing
  • Organizational/coordination skills for a number of groups and be able to bring together detailed info
  • Must possess customer service skills for communication for students, staff and contractors
  • Ability to understand time requirements of trades involved
  • Ability to coordinate schedules with others and provide direction for complex tasks involving multiple groups

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years’ experience coordinating different trades or groups for the completion of projects in a commercial setting
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must submit a cover letter specific to this position and resume
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check (CHBC)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Skilled trade license or certification
  • Experience in the maintenance field with an understanding of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC trades
