Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a Senior Controller to oversee the accounting and financial operations at Zephyr Cove Resort, Lake Tahoe Cruises and Lake Mead Cruises. This role will be responsible for the preparation of financial and operating reports and will work closely with the managers of the resorts, our client, and Aramark corporate office. This requires a “hands-on” financial operator who is comfortable rolling up the sleeves with the ability to multitask between accounting and finance.

  • Provides support to the Regional Finance Director and frontline management team on existing business, forecast and budget, and monthly operating results. The ability to write reports, business correspondence, and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers is required.
  • Review and approve all purchase requisitions.
  • Review and approve all invoices, ensuring that all necessary back up and approval is included.
  • Review and reconcile GT projects.
  • Submit monthly and annual reports to client in a timely manner.
  • Review the timeliness and accuracy of daily financial reporting (LOB, Cash Reconciliation, Guest Ledger, AR Aging, MM Reporting).
  • Provide accounting staff support and guidance in resolving operational challenges and provide training.
  • Monitor, update and implement Accounting/Finance related SOPs.
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries with proper back up.
  • Maintain monthly operation expense accruals and prepaid schedules.
  • Review and approve TJV’s, allocations and payroll related accruals and inter-departmental allocations or transfers.
  • Prepare monthly tax reporting to corporate for filing.
  • Review and approve annual Staffing Plan.
  • Ensure timely completion and distribution of monthly MM projections and final financial statements.
  • Discuss and review departmental financial statements with department heads and GM, provide feedback and assistance in resolving challenges
  • Review the reconciliation and accuracy of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Provide department heads annual budget guideline and ensure the timely submission of the final budget to corporate.
  • Review Capital Expenditures.
  • Review AR aging weekly to ensure collection of accounts.
  • Consistently lead and develop accounting staff.
  • Monitor SOX compliance and make necessary changes to comply with annual internal audit findings.
  • Ability to understand and ensure compliance with multi-state tax laws and regulations.
  • Assisting the Regional Finance Director and senior leadership in developing annual operating and financial budgets, performing regular P&L analysis, updating projections monthly, and providing other ad hoc analysis.
  • Working closely with the corporate office and support teams to ensure compliance with Aramark standards and other external or client requirements. Manage annual external and client audits.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by Regional Finance Director, RVP or General Manager.
  • Maintains friendly, efficient, positive customer service attitude toward customers, clients and co-workers. Is responsive to customer needs.

  • Requires Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Advanced Degree or Certifications desirable.
  • Requires 5-7 years’ experience in budgeting, financial control, and forecasting with exposure to AR/AP, payroll, G/L and P&L management.
  • Ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer service is essential.
  • Ability to work closely with a team in budgeting, cost controls formulations, inventory systems, labor scheduling, forecasting.
  • Adhering to generally accepted accounting practices and observing all financial controls and processes is required.
  • Contract-managed service experience is desirable.
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel, are required. Oracle Discoverer experience is helpful. Experience in food and/or labor management is a strong plus.
  • The ability to work with mathematical concepts is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work under strict deadlines are essential. Individual must be organized, demonstrate initiative and have strong problem solving skills.
  • Previous experience with National Parks and or hotels/resorts a plus.
  • Candidate must be willing to occasionally work event-based hours that include evenings and weekends.
