Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy Inc. and Florida Power and Light are seeking an Accounting Supervisor at the corporate headquarters in Juno Beach. In this role you will report to the Accounting Generation and Power Delivery Manager and you will be responsible for supporting all matters related to property accounting for existing assets surrounding the fixed asset life cycle.

You can expect to have an understanding of the Uniform System of Accounts as set forth in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and be able to apply and ensure compliance with the rules and regulations set for by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission as well as the Florida Public Service Commission and assist the manager in ensuring that the financial statements of the Company as it relates to property accounting are maintained and in compliance with GAAP and the regulatory agencies addressed above. You will also have a working knowledge of the Company’s financial systems, including but not limited to, PowerPlan and SAP and ensure the continued integrity of the Company’s financial statements as supported by these systems. You will interface with the business unit both in the role of accounting oversight and in optimizing accounting results and processes and therefore the ability to interact with and represent the Accounting department will be critical.

You will add value by being responsible for special projects, including researching, analyzing and reporting on issues that affect the company, making recommendations for solutions, and following through to resolution. Finally, you will be expected to provide guidance and direction to other team members, review accounting entries and assist the manager in developing the property accounting staff

Job Overview

This job provides technical and administrative supervision to specific accounting areas, such as general, corporate, property, energy marketing, payables, and receivables.

Job Duties & Responsibilities


  • Oversees the preparation of financial reports and maintains the integrity of financial systems
  • Develops, analyzes, and interprets accounting information and results
  • Provides analytical support of financial statements and general ledger
  • Prepares financial statements and related disclosures
  • Ensures SEC reporting and SOX compliance and system of internal and accounting controls
  • Consolidates multiple company financial statements
  • Maintains system of accounts, books and records on transactions and assets
  • Coordinates annual audit with independent auditors
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience:8+ years

Preferred Qualifications


  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance
  • Master's Degree
  • Supervisor/Management Experience:1+ years
