Harsco Rail is seeking a Cost Accounting Supervisor for our Columbia, SC facility.
  • In this position, you will monitor project costs for Engineering to Order Products, including preparation of monthly revenue and cost entries for percentage of completion contracts
  • Prepare cost estimates for customer quotations
  • Supervise two Cost Accountants
  • Analyze and communicate timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to operations management
  • Lead annual standard cost update as it relates to material, manufacturing labor, overhead and surcharge rates
  • Work closely with manufacturing operations to ensure accurate and timely capture of all production costs and effective analysis of production variances
  • Compile and analyze project costs providing explanations for variances between actuals and estimates
  • Assist operations with annual physical inventory counts
  • Supervise month end close as it relates to inventory, production variances, and project costs
  • Review (and in some instances perform) general ledger account reconciliations
  • Review (and in some instances prepare and post) standard and non-standard journal entries
  • Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of experience within a manufacturing environment in an cost accounting role
  • Experience in Engineering to Order Products
  • Experience with ERP system, ideally LN or Baan

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA, CMA or Master's Degree a plus
  • Ability to write in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to build professional relationships
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
  • Computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite of Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Mathematical skills
  • Accounting skills
