Position Description: The Statistical Analyst is responsible for Coordinating monthly accumulation of statistics as required for monthly financial
reporting. Analyzes Standard Monthly Accrual for Out Patient Contractuals / Discounts. Reconciles daily batch reports from patient accounting systems.
Insure patient transactions are going into the system accurately. Ensures input is timely and maintains awareness of recurring problems for corrective
action.
  • Collects and analyzes the accumulated monthly statistics; inputs and adjusts as needed; questions statistics for accuracy, compare to pri or periods for reasonableness
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual operating budget; prepares budget schedules for statistics and FTE budget; analyzes for reasonableness
  • Inputs patient account transactions as submitted by departments
  • Identifies late charge issues and work with departments to improve charge entry processes; notifies appropriate leadership of known trends
  • Ensures charges interface correctly from Meditech to Optiflex System; researches and corrects errors
  • Researches and transfers monthly Dallas PAS and Denver Supply Chain operational expense to assist them in calculating the monthly expense allocation to Wesley
  • Ensures and enforces that policies are being followed when reinstating archived or cancelled patient accounts
  • Assists in researching patient account activity to insure accurate posting of payments and discounts; researches errors and works with hospital departments and Dallas PAS to ensure transactions interface to the appropriate modules
  • Performs Master File Maintenance – verifies entries and corrects errors; coordinates documentation for all entries
  • Participates in the month end process; ensures all standard and special entries are prepared and recorded in a timely manner.
  • Completes a trend review of statistical information
  • Trains new and existing staff on charge entry/late fee entry. Participates in orientation process to ensure that new hires that will have this job function are educated
  • Works with the Corporate Development Group to standardize statistical uploads. Continues to work with other HCA facilities to train on this process

Qualifications

Required Education or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or finance or working experience equivalent to degree- minimum of 3 years

Preferred Education or Experience:

  • Previous hospital patient accounting experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work assignments

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Preferred knowledge of computer systems in a healthcare facility as it relates to general accounting and patient accounting
