The Neighbors’ Place (TNP) is a homegrown 501(c)(3) non-profit community center providing a hand up to residents of Marathon County and the surrounding communities. Our mission is a simple one: to be “People Helping People.” The Neighbors’ Place helps those in need in north central Wisconsin by providing food and basic necessities, educating and connecting clients with services, and treating people with dignity and respect.

Due to the retirement of Executive Director, we are in search of a caring, empathetic and dynamic leader to continue to drive the mission of The Neighbors’ Place in the leadership of the daily and long term operations of our organization to serve our community.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Management

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and on-going evaluation of programs and services that support The Neighbors’ Place mission
  • Support the board and staff to develop a process to create, implement, monitor, and adjust a strategic and tactical plan
  • Foster the culture of the organization
  • Lead efforts to create new alliances, partnerships, and collaborations with other organizations in the nonprofit, private, and public sectors that will help The Neighbors’ Place advance its mission
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and development of staff, including a formal review process along with ensuring compliance of the organization’s policies and procedures
  • Provide oversight to volunteer selection, training, utilization and appreciation
  • Maintain a highly engaged and ongoing presence in our community to carry the message of The Neighbors’ Place as well as build potential donor relationships
  • Oversee the primary fundraising and community events held by The Neighbors’ Place

Fiscal Responsibility

  • Manage a budget and operating expenses which represent the strategic goals of TNP by working closely with the staff to identify needs, the Finance Committee to develop the budget, and the Board of Directors for approval of budgetary shortfalls or overages
  • Ensure TNP events and other revenue generating sources remain viable and make adjustments as necessary
  • Highly engaged in fundraising efforts, including individual and corporate donors as well as planned estate giving
  • Secure revenue through grants and foundations

Community Relations

  • Serve as the public image of The Neighbors’ Place in media and press releases
  • Provide a voice for our clients in the community via active leadership on various boards, committees and programs
  • Ensure an empathetic understanding of our clients socio economic challenges
  • Maintain awareness of other community programs and services available to our clients to both offer and accept referrals, build partnerships, and avoid duplication of services

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong desire to serve our community with empathy and kindness
  • Strong commitment to The Neighbors’ Place mission of People Helping People
  • At least ten years of broad-based management experience
  • Experience working in or with non-profits required
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in community relations, marketing, business, management, or communication preferred but not required
  • Experience creating and executing a strategic plan
  • Proven record of generating income for an organization either as a volunteer or as a professional
  • High level understanding of P/L statements, balance sheets, and statement of cash flows as it relates to the organizational management of the operation
  • Prior experience leading and developing both employees and volunteers strongly desired
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision and a self-starter who takes initiative to reach and exceed goals
  • Demonstrated ability to use resources effectively to generate solutions and takes initiative to resolve problems
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
